Upon learning this the party levels up. They seek the rest of the cult and find them just as they complete the summoning ritual. For a while all seems to have been saved, and the party has time to rest and recoup. Before they can leave, however, a giant does arrive in Jamp, and begins to lay waste to the city. Upon successfully stopping the giant the party levels up again. The party agrees to help him, and talk around the city and follow clues to figure out who Becket is. They find a few people who know him and claim he was a kindly wizard with little talent. Each of them points to a poor district on the outskirts of the city where Becket normally lives with his wife and children. Becket stays to help the kids while the party seeks whoever or whatever stole the wife and memories. They find a fallen Aasimar who was bitter about Becket’s kind deeds and so stole his memories in an attempt to claim a spell Becket was working on for himself. The spell is designed to deliver one gift to every child when the clock strikes midnight on Yuletide. While the party is introducing itself, a messenger arrives and informs the chancellor that the city has been placed under siege by a strange, massive creature, and it seems as though they only have a few hours to kill it before the creature breaks through and begins laying waste to the town. The chancellor asks for the party’s help since they’re already on hand. The Duke and Caitlin were similar in too many ways, with Caitlin desiring to be the center of attention nearly as much as the Duke, conceiving ever more complex dishes for events, and presenting them in ever more convoluted ways.
